Some Phillip Island days are simply made for finding a sense of calm. Slower days call for warming saunas, quiet moments of connection and an invigorating cold plunge.
At Wellbeing Elements in Cowes, you can immerse yourself in a truly relaxing and reviving island experience. Phillip Island’s premium bathhouse and recovery centre brings magnesium hot pools, cold immersion, rejuvenating saunas, a eucalyptus steam room and recovery technology together in a calm, welcoming space.
Whether you are easing tired muscles after an active day, adding a little self-care to your holiday or simply looking for a different way to connect with others, Wellbeing Elements offers time to slow down, breathe and leave feeling refreshed.
Contrast therapy is the practice of moving between hot and cold exposure. At Wellbeing Elements, the core bathhouse experience includes two magnesium hot pools heated to 37°C, a 12°C cold plunge, an 8°C ice pool, a traditional dry-heat sauna and a eucalyptus-infused steam room.
The change in temperature is designed to stimulate circulation, reduce inflammation, relieve muscle soreness and support nervous system regulation. And you do not need to be an athlete or an experienced cold-plunge enthusiast to take part.
Sessions are structured around three suggested protocols: Recovery, Relaxation and Revival. Each offers guidance based on how you would like to feel, from unwinding and slowing down to restoring energy after an active day. The team will introduce you to the space and explain how each element works, or you can move through the experience at your own pace.
A bathhouse session can begin gently in one of the magnesium hot pools.
Heated to 37°C, the pools offer a warm place to settle in, take a breath and let the pace of the day soften. After surfing, walking, cycling or exploring Phillip Island’s coastline, the heat can feel especially welcome.
From here, move into the traditional dry sauna or breathe in the warmth of the eucalyptus-infused steam room. Both offer a quiet pause before the cooler part of the experience begins.
The cold plunge and ice pool bring a very different energy.
Stepping into cold water can feel challenging at first, but the experience is designed to be taken at your own pace. Some visitors may prefer a brief dip before returning to the hot pools, while others will be ready to embrace the full contrast therapy cycle.
Moving between hot and cold creates a satisfying rhythm. Warm up, cool down, breathe, pause and repeat. It is a simple experience that brings your attention firmly into the moment.
Beyond the shared bathhouse, Wellbeing Elements offers two separate bookable experiences.
The Sunlighten infrared sauna uses infrared technology to warm the body from within to support detoxification, muscle recovery and skin health. It is a private experience for up to four people, making it a good option for couples or small groups.
Normatec compression boots use controlled air pressure around the legs to give a dynamic massage experience. Settle into a chair, put your feet up and let the boots do the work during a 30-minute session. They are a welcome option after long walks, demanding exercise or simply a busy few days on your feet.
These experiences are booked separately from the main bathhouse session and allow for a more in-depth recovery experience.
Wellbeing Elements places connection at the centre of the experience. The bathhouse is a communal space where individuals, couples, friends, and teams can take time out together.
It can become part of a relaxed couple's escape, a wellness activity during a weekend with friends or a recovery stop after outdoor adventures. Private venue bookings are also available for groups, creating space for shared time away from the usual routine.
The atmosphere is calm and inclusive, offering the chance to switch off without feeling removed from the people you came with.
Wellbeing Elements is located on Settlement Road in Cowes, around a 15-minute walk from the town centre.
A bathhouse session can fit easily into any Phillip Island itinerary. Book a morning visit before lunch, warm up after a cool coastal adventure or make it the slower final stop of a busy day.
The experience works particularly well alongside the island’s outdoor activities. Follow a coastal walk with warm magnesium pools, give tired legs some attention after cycling or take a quiet hour after a day spent sightseeing.
Sometimes a holiday needs less rushing and more time to simply stop.
