Industry Update 4 February 2021

The peak January season finished strong over the long weekend and we hope all our partners have had a successful month.

We are looking forward to catching up with many of you next week at our first Industry Update for nearly 12 months, even with our masks on! Last nights announcement has again challenged us all, we hope that consequences are minimal and we move forward positively.

We are keen to hear from industry on the current regulations and significant impacts on your ability to run your operations. We would appreciate you giving us a call to discuss or set up a site visit.

It was wonderful to see Phillip Island featured in the Sounds Better Together concert airing on Channel Nine last Saturday. Well done to Nick and the team at The Westernport for hosting the Pierce Brothers as part of this great event week.

As always we are a phone call away, and can arrange a visit to see you if you would like to discuss key challenges or some good news stories with us.

Campaign Launch – latest Holiday Here this Year Activation

With the summer holiday period behind us, we are very aware that this was a difficult and uncertain time for many of you, and not what we were all hoping for. It is however great to see things starting to move in the right direction, with borders reopening across Australia over the last week, and that is why we launched the latest iteration of our Holiday Here This Year campaign.

The latest activation is a $5 million dollar, seven-day blitz of advertising, inspirational travel content and tourism messaging encouraging Australians to take a well-deserved break, as well as provide much-needed support to tourism operators and communities around the country. As with previous iterations of Holiday Here This Year, the campaign aims to get visitors back into areas that need them most, including regions directly and indirectly affected by the bushfires.. Whilst there is uncertainty for travellers with the lack of national consistency around state borders, TA’s latest research shows overall consumer confidence amongst Australians is at an eight-month high and, despite this, with more than half of all Australians are still considering or planning interstate travel.

Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy Identifying Boating Priorities Survey
This survey represents the first step in developing the Victorian Recreational Boating Strategy. The survey seeks to understand from boating stakeholders what they believe the boating priorities are across Victoria. The results of this consultation will provide the basis to inform priorities in each Victorian regional district and these will be tested with boaters & anglers at face-to-face drop-in events across Victoria in March. More information about these events will be released when available.
