Industry Update 31 May 2021

Dear Industry,

Our thoughts are with our local industry and community as we experience this next circuit breaker lockdown. We understand this has delivered another dent in the recovery efforts we have already faced. If you wish to discuss the difficulties you are facing or just want to share some insights please do not hesitate to contact myself or Pauleen.

Given the current circumstances all DIGITAL marketing has been put on hold. We are working on the Island Whale Month, and we hope that this will serve as a great incentive to encourage visitation over the coming months as we emerge from this lockdown. We also have segments coming up on Getaway and Postcards to promote visitation to the region.

Our industry seminar has been rescheduled to 22 June and those who had tickets for the 3 June are now booked in for the new date. Also if you could not make the 3 June, bookings are still being accepted.

Last week I participated in a forum with Hon. Martin Ferguson AM, who is leading the Reimagining the Visitor Economy expert panel and the initiative. We talked about policy initiatives and support needed to support and grow the visitor economy during covid conditions and what the future looks like when international travel returns.
Martin emphasised the importance of industry participating in the study at lease by completing the survey link below.

As a highly impacted region, we urge all of our local industry to provide input into this Federal Government survey
